Jane Brotanek, MDJane Brotanek, MD, MPH, FAAP

Brotanek, MD, MPH, FAAP, joined Ridgefield Pediatric Associates in 2011. Dr. Brotanek is an experienced pediatrician deeply committed to the care of children and their families.

After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from Yale University in 1996, she received her MD from New York School of Medicine in 1998 and received a Masters in Public Health from the University of Rochester’s School of Public Health in 2004. After she completed her residency, she completed a three-year fellowship in General Academic Pediatrics at the University of Rochester, where she worked as part of the American Academy of Pediatrics Center for Child Research. Her areas of research interests encompass asthma, infant feeding practices and iron deficiency as well as cultural and language barriers to care among Latino children.

In September 2004, she joined the Medical College of Wisconsin as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. She worked to improve access to quality healthcare for underserved children. During her tenure there, she developed a program to help children and their parents understand and treat asthma. The results were published in the November 2007 issue of Ethnicity & Disease. After presenting her findings, she was asked to serve as a consultant for a project sponsored by AHRQ in New Jersey. In 2006 she received a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Faculty Scholars Program Award for her work on iron deficiency and early childhood nutrition. In 2007, she continued her work at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas Texas in addition to research and public speaking.

Most recently, her focus has shifted to being a primary care pediatrician dedicated to clinical work and advocating for children’s health and well-being. She recently worked in a pediatric practice in Poughkeepsie New York. She is fluent in seven languages including Spanish, French, Czech, German, and Italian, with reading and writing skills in Latin and Sanskrit.
